USDA Buys 7,880 MT PulsesKANSAS CITY - May 7/08 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 7,880 metric tons (MT) of pulses for shipment as food aid. Under terms of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 058, the pulses packed in 50 kg bags for shipment from interior plants between June 1 to June 22 and between June 23 to July 13 for plants located at port. Average prices paid on the tender lower for the most recently bought commodities, with the average price paid for pinto beans slipping from U.S. $37.93 per 100 pounds (cwt) on a delivered port basis last month to $36.68 cwt on this tender; while the average price paid for lentils dropped from $39.28 to $37.96 cwt.
