Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - May 1/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY A strong wind warning is current for coastal waters between Torres Strait and Cooktown. STATE FORECAST for Friday Isolated showers about most of the east coast. Possible isolated showers about far SE interior during the afternoon or evening. Fine over the remainder. Strong SE winds about the coast north of Cooktown. Moderate NW to SW winds over southern parts, light to moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere. EXTENDED OUTLOOK A surface trough will move northwards through the southern coast during Saturday with isolated showers near the change. A ridge along the east coast will be maintained through central and northern parts for the next few days, with fresh to strong SE winds maintained and isolated showers.
