CGC Reports Improved March ExportsWINNIPEG - Apr 25/08 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports field exports in March totalled 109,800 metric tons (MT) through licensed terminal facilities, which are required to report to it all grain movement. The CGC exports are up from the 48,800 MT shipped the same month last year and up from the 96,600 MT shipped the previous month. The CGC reports field pea exports so far during the 2007-08 crop year total 1,358,300 MT, up from 1,112,600 during the same period of the 2006-07 marketing year. Of field peas exported in March: 109,800 MT moved through terminal elevators in Vancouver. Cumulative exports since the start of the marketing year total 1,273,100 MT at Vancouver; 73,300 MT at Thunder Bay; 11,800 at Port Cartier; and 100 MT direct from Prairie elevators. The 2006-07 season ended with exporters shipping 1,253,000 MT from Vancouver; 65,600 MT via Churchill; 124,600 MT through facilities in Thunder Bay; 24,500 MT from Quebec; 24,800 MT out of Sorel; and 200 MT directly from western Canadian primary elevators.
