Tight Supply Outlook for Confection SunsVANCOUVER - Apr 4/08 - SNS -- The USDA's seeding intentions and stocks in all positions reports points to a tightening supply picture for confectionary sunflower seed in 2008-09. Available supplies of current crop confectionary sunflower seeds is down from last year, dropping 24% to 232 million pounds or 105,300 MT as of March 1, pointing to reduced season ending stocks. At the same, growers in the United States intend to leave seeded area virtually unchanged at 305,000 acres. Average yields would, however, see production lift almost 4% to 225,000 MT.
