India Extends Pulse Export BanVANCOUVER - Apr 1/08 - SNS -- The Indian government has extended its pulse export ban for another year, until March 31, 2009. The ban covers all pulses except kabuli chickpeas, also known as dollar or kabuli chana. The ban has proven an important market development tool for pulse producers outside India, who now need to service the needs of Indian ethnic markets in their own and neighboring countries. Prior to the ban, India re-exported a certain proportion of imported pulses after processing them as well as exporting classes of pulses not typically grown outside India.
