Beaners Fret Over USDA Numbers

VANCOUVER - Mar 28/08 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firm, but quiet note with most processors and exporters waiting for more clarity about this year's crops before making more sales.

The U.S. spot market index for dry edible bean finished the week at 1305, up 1 point from the previous week and compared to 987 at this time last year.

The grower index finished up 11 points at 1163, about 80 points below its record high, but up from 876 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 79.7%, up 0.6 points from last week and up 0.3 points from this time last year.
