Frozen Poultry Stockpile Up on Year
WASHINGTON - Mar 20/08 - SNS -- Total frozen poultry supplies at the end of February were up 6% from the previous month, and 25% above last year, according to the USDA's latest report on agricultural products in cold storage.
At 753 million pounds, total stocks of chicken were down almost 20 million pounds from the previous month, and up 21% from last year. Frozen egg stocks were up 32% on the month at 15.8 million pounds.
At 411.5 million pounds, total pounds of turkey in freezers were up 26% from last month and up roughly 99 million pounds from last year.
