New Record Canaryseed Values

VANCOUVER - Mar 7/08 - SNS -- Canadian canaryseed established new record high trading levels during the past week on inter-dealer markets, but remains well below the historic highs for Canadian grower markets.

Birdseed ingredient markets in the United States were mixed, with white proso millet advancing and sunflower easing in sympathy with oilseed markets. Millet bids gained another 50 cents per 100 pounds (cwt) on the week, to finish at $12.50 cwt for farmers dressed product delivered elevators in the U.S. midwest.

Oil-type sunflower markets were influenced by weakness in oilseed markets the last half of the week, with the result spot and new crop bid levels eased across the United States. Confectionary sunflower seed bids, by contrast, held firm, with new crop premiums remaining intact.
