Australian Livestock Auction Sales JumpSYDNEY - Mar 7/08 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd soared during the past week. Throughput for the week totalled 81,407 sheep and lambs, versus 39,324 head during the previous week's auctions, and 4,125 head of cattle, compared to 3,579 last week. "Cattle numbers rose by a thousand this week and sheep and lambs doubled," AuctionsPlus' Dean Lemmich said. "A week is a long time in the market place. "Last week significant rises for most grades of cattle suggested we might ride on that high for the next few weeks, not so. One of the quickest drops you’d want to see took the sting out of things and when it happens as quickly as that it creates a great deal of uncertainty."
