Strong one in Birdseed MarketsVANCOUVER - Feb 29/08 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets maintained their strong tone throughout the past week, with Canadian canaryseed, U.S. millet and sunflower seed markets advancing. Oil-type sunflower markets were the strongest in the group, with grower bids jumping U.S. $2.45 per 100 pounds (cwt) in both current and new crop delivery periods in sympathy with soybean and canola markets, both of which established new record high trading levels during the week. Confectionary sunflower markets were unchanged on spot markets, but the new crop premium widened to $7 cwt for larges and was unchanged at $2 for smalls. Millet markets in the United States were also stronger on the week, with grower bids reaching 12 cents per pound for farmers dressed product in the U.S. midwest. ,Inter-dealer markets finished at a nominal $13 cwt.
