Farming Costs in the U.S. Up From Last YearWASHINGTON - Feb 29/08 - SNS -- The February Index of Prices Paid for Commodities and Services, Interest, Taxes, and Farm Wage Rates (PPITW) is 172% of the 1990-92 average, reveals this USDA report. The index is up 2 points (1.2%) from January and 16 points (10%) above February 2007. Higher prices in February for complete feeds, feeder cattle, potash & phosphate materials, and feed concentrates offset lower prices for LP gas, self-propelled machinery, gasoline, and other machinery. The February Index of Prices Paid for Commodities and Services, Interest, Taxes, and Farm Wage Rates (PPITW) at 172 (1990-92=100), up 1.2% from January 2008 and 10% from February 2007.
