Pea Tone Stays FirmVANCOUVER - Feb 22/08 - SNS -- International field pea markets maintained their firm tone during the past week against continuing import demand from the Pacific Rim and other destinations. Steady demand, in combination with rapidly tightening stocks in Canada and the United States, is helping sustain grower and inter-dealer markets at current levels. Processors see little room for prices to decline until after this year's crop is sown. Otherwise, growers could lose interest in the crop, especially in the United States, where farmers are maximizing spring grain and soybean area.
