India Holds Firm on Kabuli PricesVANCOUVER - Feb 22/08 - SNS -- Chickpea markets finished the week on a firm note, with Indian kabuli chickpea exporters holding prices at a premium to Mexican origin. Markets are somewhat surprised by price attitudes in India. Markets expected India to set the tone for kabuli chickpeas during the current quarter, but they though harvest selling pressure would constitute a bearish influence. Local traders in India seem to have approached rabi season kabulis with the same attitude. They now find themselves short against forward sales commitments and their needs are supporting prices on that country's domestic market.
