Short Covering Lifts Indian ChickpeasVANCOUVER - Feb 15/08 - SNS -- Chickpea markets finished the week on a strong note, with asking prices for most origins advancing against emerging buying demand. Markets had been waiting for price direction from India's kabuli chickpea harvest and started lifting early in the week against worries that inclement weather in northern India might damage this year's crop. Consequently, traders were not surprised to see India's market advance during the week, contributing to improved buying interest for kabuli chickpeas from Canada and other origins with product available for shipment on nearby markets.
