World Bean Markets StrengthenVANCOUVER - Feb 9/08 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets continued to strengthen during the past week, though at a much slower pace than is being seen in North American field peas and lentils. International markets are being supported by good fundamental demand from Brazil and other destinations and anxiety about potential shortages in 2008-09. North America's spot market index for dry edible beans finished the week at 1189, up 20 points from the previous week and compared to 898 at this time last year. The grower index finished up 43 points at 1075, versus 836 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 80.9%, up 1.9 points from last week and down 2.3 points from this time last year.
