Chickpeas Awaiting IndiaVANCOUVER - Feb 1/08 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were mainly unchanged in relatively light trade during the past week, with attention remaining on India from both desi and kabuli traders. Desi chickpea exporters in Australia are looking for a smaller than expected rabi or winter seeded area to result in stronger import demand than might otherwise have been the case, which matches nicely with this season' increase in Australian output. For their part, kabuli chickpea traders continue to look for evidence of the size of this year's harvest and the depth of competition they will face on world markets during the coming quarter.
