CDCS Names BoardSASKATOON - Jan 29/08 - SNS -- The Canaryseed Development Commission of Saskatchewan (CDCS) announced election results for their first board of directors. Elected to three year terms are Glen Byrnes, Kevin Hursh and Vince Walker. Elected to two year terms are Andrew Schaefer and Kurtis Nunweiler. Appointed by the board to serve as a director is Jack Carlson. Following the AGM the board held a brief meeting to elect the executive for 2008. Andrew Schaefer will serve as chair of the board. Glen Byrnes will serve as vice chair and Kevin Hursh will continue as treasurer. The CDCS was established in February 2007. Its mandate is to increase the value and demand of canaryseed through market development, research and communications activities. It is funded by a $1.75 per tonne producer check off that is collected at delivery. There are many new and exciting initiatives to promote canaryseed that the CDCS is presently engaged in for the upcoming year.
