Firm Finish For Edible BeansVANCOUVER - Jan 25/08 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a generally firmer note, with product available from growers and processors remaining just behind the needs of the market. Processors in the United States are worried about the amount of beans which be planted this year, but remain nervous about increasing grower bids. North America's spot market index for dry edible beans finished the week at 1124, up 15 points from the previous week and compared to 877 at this time last year. The grower index finished down 6 points at 1025, versus 811 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 81.6%, down 1.5 points from last week but up 1.3 points from this time last year.
