U.S. Frozen Veggie Supplies Decrease
WASHINGTON - Jan 22/08 - SNS -- Frozen vegetable supplies fell 6% during December to finish the month at almost 2,217 million pounds, down 9 million pounds from the previous year, according to the USDA's latest report on agricultural products in cold storage.
Compared to the previous month, stocks of broccoli, cauliflower, onions and southern greens were up. Compared to last year, stocks of asparagus, broccoli, corn, and blackeye peas were down.
Supplies of potatoes in cold storage were lower, falling 7% on the month to 1,001 million pounds, up 5% from the previous year.
