Modest Advance in Meat StocksWASHINGTON - Jan 22/08 - SNS -- Total red meat supplies in freezers inched up 843,000 pounds in December to 967.1 million pounds, up 2% from the previous year, notes the USDA in its latest report on agricultural products in cold storage. Frozen pork supplies dropped 10 million pounds during the month to 464.3 million pounds, up almost 22 million pounds from the previous year. Stocks of pork bellies were up 62% from last month at 55.5 million pounds and up 32% from last year. Supplies of beef were up slightly from year earlier levels at 482.8 million pounds, up around 9 million pounds from the previous month.
