Few Changes in Edible BeansVANCOUVER - Jan 18/08 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were little changed in light trade during the past week, with exporters in North America and Argentina holding the line on asking prices. Underlying concern about seeded area prospects remains an issue in North America, while Argentine markets have risen to levels which will ensure adequate white bean output for 2008-09. North America’s spot market index for dry edible beans finished the week at 1108, up 18 points from the previous week and compared to 863 at this time last year. The grower index finished up 21 points at 1031, versus 796 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 83.1%, up 0.3 points from last week and up 3.6 points from this time last year.
