Market Uncertainty For ChickpeasVANCOUVER - Jan 11/08 - SNS -- Chickpea markets started the 2008 calendar year on a mixed note as uncertainty about short term production prospects around the globe. Markets were also affected by relatively weak demand from buyers who prefer to wait to see what India will harvest in February before rushing in to cover additional needs. This is especially true of kabuli chickpeas importers. While Indian quality is considered inferior to that from Mexico, the discounts are considered attractive in the current market situation and buyers are looking for indications about the pending February-March harvest before committing to other origins.
