USDA National Grain ReviewST. JOSEPH - Jan 11/08 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Jan 11. WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW For the week grain and soybean bids closed on a mix note. Wheat was pressured by fund selling and liquidation ahead of the Supply/Demand and U.S. Winter Wheat Seedings report to be released Friday morning. Soft White Wheat saw sharp gains hitting a new high due to very tight supplies and good export demand. Weekly export sales for wheat were reported at 190,000 tonnes as compared to 119,200 tonnes. Corn saw slight to moderate gains due to good export demand and fund buying. However, increased producer selling pressured the market later in the week. Weekly export sales for corn came in at 720,000 tonnes. Soybeans were mix finding pressure from weakness in crude oil and fund selling. Weekly export sales for soybeans were low coming in at 118,000 tonnes. Wheat was 48-61 cents lower except Soft White wheat which was sharply higher. Corn 5-14 cents higher. Sorghum was 16-20 cents higher. Soybeans were 7 cents lower to 2 cents higher. WHEAT: Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 61 1/2 to 62 1/2 cents lower from 8.99-9.61 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Soft Red Winter rail bid was 71 1/2 cents lower from 8.99-9.34 per bushel. St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter terminal bid was 62 cents lower at 8.13 per bushel. Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 48 to 58 cents lower from 11.22 3/4-11.27 3/4 per bushel. Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 75 cents to 1.00 higher from 14.00-14.05 per bushel. CORN: Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 12 to 16 cents higher from 4.91-4.97 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 6 to 9 cents higher from 4.57-4.60 per bushel. Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 5 cents higher from 4.52-4.55 per bushel. Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 9 to 11 cents higher from 4.40-4.70 per bushel. Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was 9 cents higher from 4.60-4.62 per bushel. Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow Corn rail was 14 cents higher at 4.41 per bushel. OATS AND BARLEY: US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20 day was 3 1/2 cents lower from 3.25-3.27 per bushel. US No 3 or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was 10 cents higher at 6.85 per bushel. Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was 5 to 10 cents higher from 12.85-13.00 per cwt. SORGHUM: US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 17 cents higher at 8.13 per cwt. Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the farmer, fob elevator) was 16 to 20 cents higher from 7.64-7.89 per cwt. OILSEEDS: Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans, no bid available. Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 5 1/4 cents lower to 2 3/4 cents higher from 12.20 1/4-12.25 1/4 per bushel. Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were 7 cents lower at 11.70 per bushel. Central Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 2.40 lower from 338.20-340.20 per ton. Central Illinois crude Soybean oil processor bid was 9 to 59 points higher from 48.77-49.77 cents per pound. Sunflower Oil was not available.
