LITTLE ROCK - Jan 7/08 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

   Domestic shipment: Offers, fob mills, milled rice, spot prices, dollars
per cwt, bagged. (All milled rice grade No 2 not to exceed 4 percent brokens,
except California grade No 1. All second heads grade No 4 or better, second
head and brewers are bulk.)

                             Domestic Situation

   Domestic milled rice price quotes were steady to 2.00 higher in the south
and steady in California. By-products were uneven in the south and steady
California.

   In the south, long grain rice prices were steady to 2.00 higher; medium
grain prices were generally steady; parboiled rice prices were steady to 1.00
higher, quoted mostly at 25.00-26.00; second heads were steady; brewers were
steady, quoted mostly at 15.50-16.75. Rice by-products: Offers for rice bran
were unevenly 5.00 higher to 10.00 lower; millfeed was unevenly 5.00 higher
to 8.00 lower; hulls were steady to 8.00 hgiher.

   In California, medium grain milled rice prices were steady, quoted mostly
at 27.00; short grain prices were steady; second heads were steady, quoted
mostly at 19.50-20.00; brewers were steady, quoted mostly at 16.00. Rice bran
was steady; rice hulls were steady.
