Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Jan 1/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary Fire Weather Warning: Fire danger will be extreme in the Mallee tomorrow. The CFA has declared a day of Total Fire Ban for the North Western, Central and North Eastern Total Fire Ban districts until midnight Tuesday 1st January 2008. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments A low pressure trough over Victoria will contract to the northeast of the State on Wednesday. A high pressure system south of Western Australia will move eastwards, crossing Tasmania during Thursday to reach the Tasman Sea on Friday. Another low pressure trough will move into western Victoria on Saturday. Victoria Wednesday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, mainly about the ranges. Fine elsewhere. Warm to hot inland, milder near the coast. Light to moderate southerly winds freshening in the afternoon. Fire Danger: High to very high in the north, reaching extreme in the northwest. UV Index: 13 [Extreme] reducing to 8 [Very high] under cloud. Thursday: Isolated morning drizzle near the coast.
