Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Point
Hicks.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments
A low pressure trough over South Australia will move over western Victoria
during this afternoon and evening. An associated low pressure system south of
South Australia will move southeastwards today and pass south of Tasmania during
Monday.  A high pressure system will then develop over the Bight on Tuesday
before moving across Tasmania during Wednesday. A cold front will develop over
the Bight on Wednesday then move eastwards and approach western Victoria on
Thursday.
Victoria
Sunday:       A warm to hot day throughout with increasing cloud. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms developing in the west during the afternoon then
extending to central districts at night. Isolated afternoon showers and
thunderstorms in the northeast. Moderate north to northeasterly winds, locally
fresh at times this morning, tending west to northwesterly in the west later.
Fire Danger: Generally high to very high in the north, moderate to high in the
south.
UV Index:     12 [Extreme] decreasing to 8 [very high] under cloud.
Monday:       Scattered showers and thunderstorms, more widespread in the east,
gradually clearing from the west. Isolated showers to follow in the southwest.
Warm with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder westerly change
reaching the east by the evening.
Tuesday:      Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Fine
elsewhere. Warm in the north, milder in the south.
Wednesday:    Isolated morning showers near the coast. Isolated afternoon
showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. Warm in the north, milder in
