Australia -- New South Wales Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Dec 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary: Flood warning for the Paroo River and Warrego River. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is moving towards New Zealand. Cool upper atmospheric conditions in the east are maintaining generally unstable conditions and isolated showers and thunderstorms over eastern New South Wales. A deepening low pressure trough in the west is expected to produce a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the far west today. A front will move through the state on Monday and Tuesday and is expected to increase shower and thunderstorm activity again over the entire state on Monday, before the activity contracts to the east on Tuesday. Some moderate falls are possible with these showers and storms in the southwest on Monday and over the northeast on Tuesday. Forecast for Sunday Fine on southern parts of the coast and through the central inland areas. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the remainder of the east, tending scattered in the northeast this afternoon. Isolated showers and thunderstorms also developing this afternoon or evening in the far west. Humid north to northeast winds, fresh along the southern coast. Forecast for Monday Showers and thunderstorms, chiefly in the west at first, but extending throughout by the afternoon with some potentially moderate falls in the southern inland districts and along the southern slopes. North to northeast winds over most of the state, fresh to strong along southern parts of the coast, tending west to southwesterly in the west during the day. Forecast for Tuesday Fine in the west. Showers or thunderstorms over the eastern half of the state, more widespread in the northeast. North to northeast winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds over the remainder, with a southerly change moving up the southern half of the coast during the day. Forecast for Wednesday Fine in the west. Showers and thunderstorms over the eastern half, more widespread in the northeast. South to southeast winds in the south and west, north to northeast winds in the northeast. --- STAT News Service
