MELBOURNE - Dec 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

IDQ1070001
UPDATED
WARNING SUMMARY
Flood warnings are current for the Warrego and Paroo Rivers.
Strong Wind Warning for coastal waters Yeppoon to Sandy Cape.
STATE FORECAST
for Saturday night and Sunday
Fine over the west of the state. Showers and thunderstorms over most eastern
districts, tending more widespread with areas of rain with moderate to locally
heavy falls about the coast and adjacent inland from St Lawrence to Bundaberg,
although easing during Sunday. A few showers about the southeast coast. Light to
moderate W to NW winds across the northern tropics with light to moderate SE to
NE winds elsewhere. A very high fire danger over the northwest and Cape York
Peninsula.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
On Monday, a new trough system is expected to reach western queensland, bringing
isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms to the south, but more
scattered to widespread activity over the tropics as very moist air is drawn in
from the north. The trough will hover over the west of the state into the middle
of next week along with the showers and thunderstorms from the tropics to the
southern interior. NW winds will increase across the northern tropics and the
Gulf waters on Monday and Tuesday ahead of the trough. Into the middle of next
week, this trough system will spread the shower and thunderstorm activity
further east, possibly reaching the southeast coast by late Wednesday or
Thursday.
Temperatures will remain hot in the northwest, decreasing from Tuesday as cloud
