Record Grower Bids for Yellow PeasVANCOUVER - Nov 30/07 - SNS -- International field pea markets ended the week on a firm note, with values improving for most origins. Trading levels were steady in the United Kingdom, but advanced slightly in France in the face of tightening grower level supplies; while grower bids in Canada finished the week in record territory for whole yellow peas. Bids for whole yellow peas closed weekly trading ranging up to CDN $8.40 per bushel on spot markets and $8.50 for deferred delivery or between U.S. $308.65 and $312.32 per metric ton (MT) for farmers dressed peas delivered western Canadian processing plants. Some companies were bidding for 2008 crop peas for delivery next fall at CDN $6.50 per bushel or roughly $239 MT. Grower bids for whole green peas were unchanged on the week, closing at $9.25 or almost $340 MT. Bids remain 50 cents per bushel or $18.37 MT below their record high.
