Coarse Grain Supplies Inch DownWASHINGTON - Nov 9/07 - SNS -- World coarse grain supplies are projected 800,000 metric tons (MT) higher this month as a small reduction in global corn output is more than offset by higher production for the other coarse grains, according to the latest forecast from the USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board. Lower corn production in the United States and Nigeria is partly offset by increases for China, Ethiopia, EU-27, India, and Ukraine. China corn production is raised 2.0 million MT this month reflecting higher harvested area as recent provincial reports indicate higher- than-expected planted area. Corn production in EU-27 is raised 0.5 million MT mostly on increases for Italy and France. Corn production for Ukraine is raised 0.5 million MT on higher expected yields reflected in early harvest results. Sorghum production is raised for Mexico, Ethiopia, and Australia. Barley production for Australia is lowered 0.7 million MT, but increases of 0.5 million MT for EU-27 and 0.3 million MT for Ethiopia are more than offsetting.
