THOMASVILLE PECAN REPORT
PECANS - PRICES PAID TO GROWERS
Georgia (via Thomasville, Georgia)
Deliveries by growers were heavy. Demand was moderate for lots
suitable for giftpack, fundraising, in-shell and commercial uses.
Prices were lower due to increased supplies. As the reporting
period came to an end on Thursday, prices showed a still weaker
undertone. With favorable mild, dry weather, harvesting continued
to accelerate in South and Middle Georgia during the reporting
period. Accumulation buying points report an increase to heavy
amounts from yard tree nuts. Most deliveries of Improved
varieties during the period were of the Desirable variety with
significant deliveries of Stuarts and Schley and few Cape Fear,
which were mostly of fair quality. Several other varieties,
including Elliott and Moneymaker, are being harvested mostly as
blends, which are also increasing in number.
Buying interest displayed by end users was moderate for the lots
suitable for giftpack, fundraising, in-shell and commercial uses.
Trading was moderate. Transactions reported for Improved
varieties were mostly for lots with generally good quality and
appropriate unit count. Buyers for giftpack and fundraising uses
were purchasing lots of Desirables with meat yield as low as
about 48%. When purchased on a meat cost basis, lots of
Desirables with meat yield of 49% or better mostly 49-51% sold
mostly for $2.75-2.90 per point with late sales as low as about

meat yield of 44% or better mostly 44-46% sold mostly for about
$2.35-$2.55 per point with late sales as low as $2.25 per point

58% were mostly between $2.35-2.45 per point with sales of
smaller lots late in the reporting period as low as $2.25 per
point.

Improved varieties of both less and greater than 20,000 pounds
with good unit count with meat yield of 47% or better mostly 48-
50% sold between $2.35-2.50 with late sales of lots under 20,000
