No 2 Or Better Harvest in SaskatchewanVANCOUVER - Oct 31/07 - SNS -- There was a moderate decline in the quality of special crops harvested in Saskatchewan this year, with a slightly smaller proportion qualifying for the No 1 grade designation, while the proportion of No 2 grade was slightly higher. In its final crop report of the year, Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food said the percentage of all crops falling into the top grade category is above the 10-year average in about half of the crops. Downgrading came from insects, hail, low bushel weight, and weathering in late-harvested crops. In general, Saskatchewan Agriculture said, "More of the lower grading crops were harvested in the northern and central areas of the grainbelt.
