U.S. Frozen Veggie Supplies Increase
WASHINGTON - Oct 22/07 - SNS -- Frozen vegetable supplies rose 20% during September to finish the month at almost 2,337 million pounds, down 6% from the previous year, according to the USDA's latest report on agricultural products in cold storage.
Compared to the previous month, stocks of lima beans, green beans, carrots, corn, and blackeye peas were up. Compared to last year, stocks of asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach and southern greens were down.
Supplies of potatoes in cold storage were higher, rising 8% on the month to 1,083 million pounds, up 7% from the previous year.
