Strong Finish in BirdseedsVANCOUVER - Oct 19/07 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week on a solid footing, with values advancing to firm for most products used by the sector. Oil-type sunflower seed grower bids finished the week just off the records set earlier in the month, while white proso millet bids advanced a quarter to U.S. $9 per 100 pounds (cwt) as processors sought to cover export and domestic sales requirements. Canadian canaryseed bids finished the week sharply higher, ranging up to CDN $21.50 cwt for farmers dressed product. Even so, bids remain well below their record of $42 cwt, set in February of 2002.
