USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Oct 12/07 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Oct 12.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW

For the week Grain and soybean bids were higher except wheat which was lower.
Wheat was lower due to profit taking and talk of rain in parts of Australia
growing areas. However, good exports and spillover support from other
commodities limit the losses. Winter wheat plantings early in the week were
listed at 58 percent complete. Corn found spillover support from soybeans and
the higher energy markets. The corn harvest is in full swing adding some
pressure in the pits. Soybeans saw solid gains as weather uncertainties in
South America, higher energy, and talk of a bullish USDA report Friday morning
triggered the strength. There is talk of lower than expected yields in some of
the harvested areas of the Midwest. The soybean harvest was listed at 50
percent complete adding some pressure to the trade.
Wheat was mostly 12-28 cents lower. Corn was mostly 2-11 cents higher.
Sorghum was 5 cents lower to 4 cents higher. Soybeans were 24-37 cents higher.
