Australian Livestock Auction Action Inches UpSYDNEY - Oct 12/07 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd rose during the past week as a modest decrease in sheep offerings were offset by rising cattle sales. Throughput for the week totalled 29,286 sheep and lambs, versus 29,912 head during the previous week's auctions, and 2,417 head of cattle, compared to 2,146 last week. "Short numbers again this week saw markets stabilize then rise as the week progressed," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Northern cattle prices led the way with a top line of young Shorthorn steers at Goondiwindi, 246 kg, making 206.9c/kg. Regrettably the heifer portion was passed in at 136.5c/kg."
