Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Oct 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary A gale warning has been issued for Victorian coastal waters west of Wilsons Promontory and for Port Phillip and Western Port. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments A high pressure system over New South Wales will drift eastwards to the Tasman Sea by tonight. A cold front south of the Bight, will move eastwards to cross Victoria during Tuesday night and early Wednesday. Another cold front will cross Tasmania on Thursday and then a third front will reach Victoria on Friday. Victoria Tuesday: Fine. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with generally light winds at first, tending northerly and strengthening in the west this evening. UV Index: Max 7 [high]. Wednesday: Fresh to strong westerly winds becoming general. Isolated showers extending across southern and mountain districts, scattered near the coast with isolated hail. Snow showers developing on the Alps. Dry on the northern plains with locally raised dust. Thursday: Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts contracting to the southwest during the day. Fine in the north. Cool to mild with fresh to strong west to northwest wind in the south, lighter in the north.
