Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Severe Weather Warning for locally damaging winds for Alpine areas above 1500
metres for Wednesday morning. Strong Wind Warning for Coastal Waters between
Seal Rocks and Ulladulla, including Sydney Closed Waters. Gale Warning for
Coastal Waters south of Ulladulla.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A high pressure ridge extends across most of New South Wales today, while a
south to southeast change is moving up the north coast. Hot and gusty
northwesterly winds are expected to affect most of NSW tomorrow, ahead of a cold
front, currently over the Great Australian Bight, which will bring cooler
southwesterly winds to the southern half of the state late in the day.
Forecast for Tuesday
Fine. Warm to hot. Mainly moderate winds, southwest to southeast in the east,
northwest in the west. Becoming fresh northeasterly along the coast later in the
evening.
Fire danger: Very High for the Northern Rivers, North West Slopes and Plains and
the Central West Slopes and Plains.
Forecast for Wednesday
Fine, hot and windy. Fresh to strong and gusty northwest winds, ahead of a late
cooler southwest change inland. A gusty southerly change moving north along the
South Coast during the afternoon, reaching the Hunter coast by late evening.
Forecast for Thursday
Fine. Warm to hot in the north, milder in the south. Moderate southwest to
southeast winds, tending northwest to northeast in the south.
Forecast for Friday
Fine. Warm northwest to northeast winds.
