Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Oct 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary A gale warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Lake Entrance. A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters between Cape Peterson and Lake Entrance. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments A vigorous westerly airstream over southern Victoria will ease tonight as a high pressure system moves across New South Wales. A cold front south of Western Australia will move eastwards and cross Victoria during Tuesday night. Another cold front will cross Tasmania on Thursday. Victoria Tuesday: Isolated showers near the coast this evening contracting to South Gippsland then clearing during the morning. Fine otherwise apart from local early morning fog inland. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with northerly wind increasing from the west. UV Index: Max 7 [high]. Wednesday: Fresh to strong westerly wind becoming general. Isolated showers extending across southern and mountain districts, more widespread near the coast with isolated hail. Dry in the north with locally raised dust. Thursday: Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts tending scattered near the coast, contracting south during the day. Fine in the north.
