Edible Beans Advance in Light Trade
VANCOUVER - Sep 28/07 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets continue to advance in light trade, with demand for most classes of beans clearly out-pacing supplies.
North America's spot market index for dry edible beans finished the week at 1133, up 69 points from the previous week and compared to just 802 at this time last year. Markets are 86 points shy of the record, which was set at 1219 in June of 1990.
The grower index finished four points higher at 930, versus 684 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 73.4%, versus 78.2% last week and down 2.9 points from this time last year.
