Confectionary Stocks Exceed Oil-TypeVANCOUVER - Sep 28/07 - SNS -- The most interesting twist in the USDA's September 1 stocks in all positions estimates is more confectionary sunflower seed were left over from the 2006-07 marketing year than oil-type sunflower. The season ended with 137,304 metric tons (MT) of sunflower seed on hand, down from 355,684 MT last year, but above the 90,285 MT on hand two years ago. Stocks of oil-type sunflower were down sharply, plunging from 272,993 MT last year to just 58,302 MT as of September 1 of this year. Confectionary stocks, by contrast, only slipped 4.5% to 79,002 MT.
