South African Pulse Area ContractsVANCOUVER - Sep 27/07 - SNS -- Pulse production levels in South Africa stands a chance of rebounding from last season if there is enough moisture to allow dry edible bean yields to approach 2005 levels. However, the South African Grain Information Service (SAGIS) is not painting an overly optimistic picture, predicting further declines in winter crop yields. Lupin yields are forecast to drop from 900 to 850 kilograms per hectare this season, compared to 1,000 kilograms in 2005-06 and just 556 in 2004-05.
