Peas Maintain Firm ToneVANCOUVER - Sep 14/07 - SNS -- Field pea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week as harvest operations wrapped up across much of North America. Yellow pea markets were also helped by the announcement of another USDA PL-480 food aid tender for 2,490 metric tons (MT) for shipment from origin in November. The tender will help ensure processing capacity remains tight through the end of the calendar year. In Canada there were signs of a slow down in grower selling, with deliveries to primary elevators between September 2 and 8 sinking from 122,500 MT the previous week to 79,800 MT. Deliveries remain above year earlier levels, reflecting an earlier start and finish to the harvest. Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
