Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 2/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Strong wind warning for coastal waters south of Wooli.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A cold front currently on the south coast is expected to bring a fresh to strong
southerly along the remainder of the coast later today or overnight. A strong
high is expected to move to the southern Tasman Sea tomorrow in the wake of the
front, bringing a deepening southeasterly airstream along the New South Wales
coast. The high is likely to remain over the southern Tasman through the week,
maintaining this moist east to southeast flow. A trough of low pressure is
expected to develop off the coast during the week, which should enhance the
shower activity and increase winds in coastal areas, particularly in the north.
Development of a low within the trough late in the week is reasonably likely.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly on the Hunter and Mid North coasts. A
cooler gusty southerly change spreading through the west and south, and reaching
the Mid North Coast in the evening.
Forecast for Tuesday
Scattered showers over the northeast quarter and isolated thunderstorms over the
North West Slopes and Plains. Isolated showers along the remainder of the coast
and adjacent ranges. Fine in the southwest. Moderate southeast winds, fresh to
strong along the coast.
Forecast for Wednesday
Scattered showers coast and adjacent ranges north from the Illawarra. Isolated
showers remainder of the ranges and the northwest slopes and plains. Fine in the
southwest. East to northeast winds inland and southeast winds along the coast,
fresh to strong in the north.
Forecast for Thursday
Rain periods on the far north coast. Scattered showers along the remainder of
the coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers western ranges. Fine in the
west. East to southeast winds, fresh to strong along the northern half of the
coast.
