Australian Livestock Auction Action UpSYDNEY - Aug 24/07 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd rose during the past week as increased sheep offerings more than offset declining cattle selling interest. Throughput for the week totalled 31,805 sheep and lambs, versus 26,465 head during the previous week's auctions, and 2,279 head of cattle, compared to 3,302 last week. "Rain up and down the coast and a few reasonable falls west of the divide together with falling numbers saw today’s cattle sale improve considerably," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Freight constraints appeared to draw a line on price rises with the bulk of buyers coming from Northern NSW. The Southern half of the state was barely affected, except for very lightweight cattle. Angus steers under 200 kg got to 252.8c/kg; 255 kg to 220c/kg, and 338 kg to 204c/kg. A line of Angus cows and calves passed in at $892 two weeks ago sold well today for $1006."
