Smaller Canadian Oilseed HarvestOTTAWA - Aug 23/07 - SNS -- Oilseed production in Canada will be down this year as prospective gains in canola output are more than offset by smaller soybean and flaxseed harvest, according to Statistics Canada. In its first production estimate for 2007, Statistics Canada said western Canadian canola production should rise this year, while flaxseed production is expected to fall. Soybean production is also expected to fall in both Quebec and Ontario. Prairie canola production could rise 190,300 metric tons (MT) to an estimated 9.2 million MT, the result of an expected record harvest area of 14.2 million acres.
