U.S. Popcorn Production Set to ReboundVANCOUVER - Aug 10/07 - SNS -- International popcorn markets finished the week on a strong note, with exporters and processors in the United States maintaining asking prices at strong levels. Production in the United States is expected to be up sharply from last year's 565.6 million harvest on account of a massive increase in seeded area from just 147,748 acres in 2006 to a more normal 202,991 this year. This year's yields are also looking to improve from last year, with crops seen as being mostly good to excellent. However, processors caution that there remains 60 days until this year's harvest is fully engaged, with the result markets will remain sensitive to any changes in the weather outlook.
