Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 1/07 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary
A gale warning is current for Victorian coastal waters west of Wilsons
Promontory.
A strong wind warning is current for remaining Victorian coastal waters east of
Wilsons Promontory and for Port Phillip and Western Port.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments
A series of cold fronts which will affect the State during the forecast periods.
A cold front will brush coastal parts of the State early Thursday then a
stronger front will reach western Victoria Thursday night and cross the rest of
the State during Friday. A cold southwesterly airstream will then persist across
Victoria on Saturday.
Victoria
Wednesday:    Isolated showers to follow in the southwest and about the
northeast ranges, tending more widespread in the southwest later in the day.
Snowfalls about the higher alpine peaks. Cool to mild with fresh to strong north
to northwest wind.
UV Index:     2 to 3 [low to moderate], reduced to 1 [low] under cloud.
Thursday:     Scattered showers in the southwest extending eastward during the
afternoon as strong northwest wind shifts westerly. Isolated showers developing
in the north. Cool to mild.
Friday:       Scattered showers, mostly in the south, but tending to rain about
the ranges and falling as snow above 1000m later. Cool to cold.
Saturday:     Scattered showers, mostly near and south of the ranges. Snowfalls
