Developing in the northwest of the state by Thursday afternoon, increasing and extending eastwards and southwards later in the day and overnight, it is then expected to contract to the eastern half by Friday afternoon and out into the Tasman Sea early Saturday morning. A ridge should gradually move towards the state through the weekend into the new week. Fine and mild to warm over the remainder with some areas of high cloud. Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds turning more westerly in the southwest.
