Marketing Year Export Pace Finishes Dead QuietVANCOUVER - Aug 1/07 - SNS -- Bulk conventional shipments of specialty crop through Canada's major ports finished the 2006-07 marketing campaign on an extremely slow pace, judging from the latest data available from the Canadian Ports Clearance Association. Total clearances for all specialty crops for the final month of the marketing year totalled 32,585 metric tons (MT), down from 125,363 MT in June and below the 120,647 MT shipped during the same month last year. The month over month decline stemmed from a collapse in the volume of field pea shipped, which sank from 92,837 MT in June to 26,501 MT in July. Shipments of other speciality crops finished the month at 3,042 MT of canaryseed, compared to 10,000 MT in June and 5,163 MT the same month last year.
